KAISER BROTHERS
The Kaiser Brothers Brewery story begins with an 1860s Bavarian family beer recipe, and three German-born Kiwi brothers.
While most would recognize Theo, Alex, and Marcel Giesen for establishing Giesen Wines, their family brewing pedigree is perhaps far lesser known. Never letting an opportunity slide, the brothers decided to try their hand at brewing craft beer, and have a lot of fun whilst doing it. In 2016 the trio set up shop in Christchurch.
Just like in the 1860s when the beer was first brewed, the Kaiser Brothers beers are crafted by real people, using local ingredients, for enthusiasts to enjoy around the table; craft beers showcasing honesty in flavour and taste without coming off as pretentious or over the top. These genuine, down to earth brews are a slice of Bavaria brewed the Kaiser way – the Aotearoa way. Prost!

DID YOU KNOW
.We.ve taken a piece of Bavarian family heritage and brewed it our way -
the Aotearoa way.. - Kaiser Brothers Brewing Captain, Dicky
Dicky Fife
Kaiser Brothers Brewing Captain Dicky Fife is energetic, passionate and personable. What’s more Dicky loves a chat – and he loves it even better if he can include a craft beer tasting.
Five years as a chef, more than 25 years as a master brewer with a decade winemaking, experience as a senior beer judge and winning numerous brewing trophies and medals have cemented Dicky’s status as a New Zealand brewing industry legend.
Dicky says making beer is just like making great food – make everything from scratch with quality ingredients. On top of that, he recommends experimenting.
Outside the brewery, you’ll usually find Dicky in the kitchen playing with flavour. When not in the kitchen, Dicky could be paddle boarding –
which is appropriate, as a paddle is essential equipment for handmade craft beer!
